“Oasis” is set in the turbulent times of South Korea between the ’80s and ’90s. It depicts the fierce life, revenge, and conflict of young people who have to pursue power and wealth by any means in an era filled with wrong social values.

Lee Doo Hak is a young man who was born in a small city in Jeolla Province and grew up innocent with a clever brain. However, he fatefully becomes caught in a whirlpool of events and ends up in the middle of conflict. After going through a real estate fraud group, he becomes a “political gangster” and lives his life to avenge his father’s unjust death.

Lee Tae believes any action is justifiable to achieve his goal. He wants to rule as an absolute monarch, but First Vice-Premier Park Gye Won opposes that idea. Park Gye Won is even more powerful than the king.

Meanwhile, Yoo Jung is a daughter of a noble family. Lee Tae thinks of her as his wife. Due to that, her family gets involved in a power struggle in the royal court.

Set towards the end of the Joseon era, Sung Yi Gyum placed first in the state examination and he now works at the Hongmungwan (administrative and research department). He doesn’t have a goal or ambition for his life. One day, Sung Yi Gyum is caught gambling. As punishment, he is assigned to work as a secret royal inspector. His job is to eradicate illegal acts and corruption by public officers. He carries out his new job with the help of Hong Da In and Park Chun Sam. Hong Da-In is a female inspector and solves cases with Sung Yi Gyum. Park Chun Sam is Sung Yi Gyum’s servant. Park Chun Sam is talkative, affectionate, and tearful.

Meanwhile, Sung Yi Bum is Sung Yi Gyum’s younger stepbrother. His father is a nobleman, but his mother is a slave. Due to his mother’s low social status, his father does not accept him as his real son and he is barred from having certain opportunities. He opposes his older stepbrother Sung Yi Gyum.
