In ancient times, many gods died but only one last deity Xing Zhi survived. Without emotion or desire, Emperor Xing Zhi had been living beyond the sky for tens of thousands of years. In a war between the gods and the demons, he saved the situation by himself alone. But after that, he refused to see anyone and was nowhere to be found. Several hundred years later, a female demon lord Shen Li was born with a pearl in her mouth.

On her thousandth birthday, she has arranged a marriage for political alliance. On her way to escape this marriage, Shen Li got attacked and transformed back into her phoenix shape. She fell into the human world in a coma with serious wounds. A vendor took her as a fat chicken, plucked all her feathers and put her on sale in a cage. Shen Li woke up to find herself in this situation and got so pissed that she collapsed on her back. As she felt depressed and desperate, a delicate man in black and white stopped and stared at her in deep thought, "I want this chicken." Just like that, the fates of the two people got intertwined closely because of this seemingly inadvertent trade.

The Story of Xing Fu

With a name that means “happiness”, one might suspect that He Xing Fu’s life would be full of nothing but joy. Unfortunately, as is the case for so many of us, Xing Fu’s life was filled with several ups and downs that brought as many moments of sorrow as they did joy. Even at her wedding, which should have been one of the happiest days of her life, Xing Fu was forced to deal with a fair amount of mortification after her sister, He Xing Yun suffered unexpected humiliation. To make matters worse, the village chief’s son, Wan Chuan Jia was injured which won her no favors with the village chief, Wan Shang Tang.

Despite the unexpected mayhem at her wedding, Xing Fu settled happily into her new life with her husband, Wang Qing Lai. Sadly, their happiness was soon disrupted after a new health care product factory moved to town and almost immediately requisitioned her in-law’s land. Refusing to give up the land without a fight, Xing Fu decides to team up with Shang Tang to take the factory owners to court. Unfortunately, things don’t work out in their favor. Ultimately forced into the city to find work, Xing Fu does the best she can but the struggles of city life prove too much for this small-town woman.

Returning to her village, Xing Fu is determined to do whatever it takes to make the life she dreams of, not just for herself but for her entire village. Will the struggles she faces ultimately lead her to the happiness her name seems to have destined her for?
